iPad Mini 2 Leaks
Leaks of the new iPad Mini 2 speculate it to come in gold, space gray, and silver. Alleged images purport to expose the back of a gold iPad portrayed by Chinese tech site DoNews.com. The upcoming space gray color offered was suggested around a week ago on the French site NowhereElse by renowned leaker, Sonny Dickson. Sonny has been releasing numerous images all week, displaying both space gray and silver.
Reports are circulating of the Mini sporting the same Touch ID as the iPhone 5S, according to images leaked online. Touch ID scans the product user’s fingerprints to unlock the device, completely replacing the home button found on every previous iOS device. With the Touch ID, users can bypass typing in their password if a fingerprint can be successfully identified and aligned with prints stored on the phone’s processor.
If reports are true, then it’s highly probable that the upcoming new tablets will offer the same colors currently available for the iPhone 5S.
Apple isn’t expected to debut the Mini 2 until late October at the earliest. Most in the tech community agree on a November 1st release date. Rumors persist that Apple may delay the debut until as late as 2014, despite the major hit they would take in sales by missing the holidays, not to mention giving its competitors a major advance with products like Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX, Nexus 7 2, and the LG G pad 8.3 tablet. The other concern is that upon its release, if it’s not delayed it may be found in limited supply due to shipping constraints.
Rumors also abound of a retina display, leaving some critics in doubt due to the Mini’s high density screen. It becomes an issue since it would quite likely require a larger battery and processor. Larger parts would obviously conflict with the widely popular and much loved traits of being slim and light weight. Least of the new iPad Mini 2’s aluminum unibody have circulated via FantaticFone, a relatively unheard of site previous to the news reports. One slight difference depicted the Apple logo molded into the iPad plate instead of just printed.
In addition to the rumored colors, memory, and retina display, the latest reports suggest it will be featuring an 8 mega pixel camera. Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst for KGI Securities, has leaked images of the new tablet with its camera possessing noticeably larger apertures than the previous models. Ming-Chi Kuo was proved correct in his recent predictions for the iPhone 5S, leading the vast majority to set aside skepticism and find his claims likely to be true. Larger apertures on the upcoming tablet would create sharper images and even possibly work better in dim lighting. Although tablet photography is unlikely to take off, upgrading from the current 5 mega pixels is an obvious upgrade for a tablet to stay competitive on the market in this economic climate.
